FAQs for Strip Poker cell phone versions:
NOTE: You should ALWAYS attempt to upload the demo
before purchasing and attempting to upload a full version.
NOTE: Neither Artworx, nor any of our associates, take
any responsibility for any issues that may occur with using a phone uploader
or any other method of loading items onto your phone. That being said, at
this time we don't know of any issues or problems from using the below methods.
1) How do I get the game/wallpaper onto my phone?
2) What phone uploaders are available?
3) How do I use an uploader?
4) What do I do if the phone uploader fails?
5) What is an unsigned application?
6) How do I decide which version/screen size to use?
7) There is a bit of pixelation in a few of the game images. Why?
8) How do I toggle the opponent pose in SPoker Pro Mobile?
9) How do I cheat or access the slideshow in SPoker Pro Mobile?
10) How do I exit the game if there is an issue with the softkeys?
1) There are several possible ways of getting the games/wallpaper
onto your phone:
a) You can use something called a 'cell phone uploader'
to install a game or wallpaper to your phone.
b) Some carriers have an uploader type of application
on their website or some other form of "official" method for installing
3rd party items.
c) Some phones have a data cable available for installing
items.
d) Some phones use memory cards and are capable of running
things from these cards.
2) This is a far from complete list of uploaders:
(Note: If you know of an uploader that hasn't been
listed, please let us know and we'll add it.)
a) Moblie Phone Uploader: http://pcs.cruz-network.net/index.php
b) Rumkin: http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/index.php
c) Fun For Mobile:
Wallpaper: http://www.funformobile.com/pages/screensaver/uploadScreenSaver.php
Games: http://www.funformobile.com/pages/game/gamemain.php
d) Gtoal (Sprint only): http://www.gtoal.com/pcs/
e) T1mmy.net (Sprint only): http://t1mmy.net/phone/phone.html
f) Focus (Sprint only): http://sprintusers.com/focus/
3) This is the steps on how to use the Moblie Phone Uploader
(http://pcs.cruz-network.net/index.php), which is the phone uploader that
we've had the best success with.
(Note: uploading a wallpaper is nearly identical to
the way described below for uploading a game.)
There are 3 different ways of setting up the upload. 1)
By Sprint PCS phone number. 2) By SMS email address. 3) By jump code.
Since the jump code method doesn't incur SMS message charges,
and seems to work the most reliably, that's what we'll use.
Use these steps:
a) Go to http://pcs.cruz-network.net/index.php
b) Go down to the section labeled: Java Midlets (Games,
Apps)
c) Leave the Recipient section blank.
d) In the JAR File section, enter the .jar file that you
wish to upload (the .jad file is not required with this uploader).
e) For Folder, select where you wish to put the game on
your phone. (If you leave it as 'Default Folder' most phones will place
your game into the Applications folder.)
f) Hit 'Send Midlet', then wait...
g) You will now see the 'Upload' page. On it is a value
called a 'Jump Code'. Below it gives a web site address.
h) Start your phone's web browser and enter this web site
address (http://pcs.cruz-network.net/jump.php).
i) On your phone's screen, it will ask for this jump code.
Enter it. Hit OK (typically the button in the center of the direction pad).
Hit OK again to start the download process. (If your phone reports 'Connection
Failed' or something similar, just try the download again.)
j) At this point, your phone will probably respond that
this is an untrusted/unsigned application that you are trying to download.
Tell the phone to continue.
k) The game should now be on your phone and ready to run.
4) There are numerous reasons why an uploader can fail,
anywhere from the game being corrupted, your phone rejecting unsigned content,
or the wireless carrier changing things on their end. If you have a failure,
often simply trying a different uploader will do the job.
5) Artworx cell phone games are unsigned applications.
Unsigned applications have no check to make sure that they have not been
tampered with, they do not run on some phones, and some wireless carriers
do not allow them to work on their system. Artworx cell phone games downloaded
from the Artworx website are safe. Unsigned cell phone games downloaded
from 'rogue' sites have been know to contain trojans or computer virus like
issues (unfortunately this isn't an exaggeration). Be safe.
6) There are several ways to find out your phone's screen
resolution:
a) Check the documentation that came with your cell phone.
b) Check the manufactuer's website.
c) Upload and run the program <link>ScreenSize on
your phone. Note that ScreenSize will display the actual usable screen size,
not the absolute screen size. So a phone like the Motorola RAZR will return
back a screen size of 176x204, instead of it's absolute size of 176x220.
Use the game version with the closest resolution.
d) Simply try uploading one of the resolutions and find
out what happens. Start with the lower resolutions and work your way up.
7) In order to keep the .jar file size down, a high level
of compression was required. This led to a minor amount of pixelation in
a small number of images. Because of current cell phone limitations, this
unfortunately is the typical situation for any game that uses photographic
images.
8) Hit the '9' key to toggle the opponent pose.
9) Cheating, tossing the ante, and the slideshow functions
in SPoker Pro Mobile are accessed from the softkey menu.
10) On practically every cell phone there is an 'END'
button. This button will normally allow you to do a 'hard exit' of an application/game.
