Bridge 8.0
Mac version (ESD download): I completed an online purchase of Bridge
8.0 for Mac and
decompressed the Unpack Wizard but I get a "File Damaged" message
when attempting to decompress bridge.arq as instructed on the order confirmation
page.
Turn off the "Automatic expand .hqx .bin" soft switches in the
Download preferences of Internet Explorer (Mac).
IBM version: I have Windows 95/98- what is the best way to run
the program?
We suggest creating a shortcut icon to Bridge 8.0 that allows the game to
run from Windows rather than DOS. Create the shortcut by opening the Bridge
8.0 folder using My Computer. Click on the Bridge 8.0 EXE icon once
with the right mouse button. Select Create Shortcut from the menu.
Drag the Shortcut to Bridge 8.0 to the Desktop. Click on the Shortcut
to Bridge 8.0 once with the right mouse button and select Properties,
then select Programs, then select Advanced. Place a checkmark
in the top box labelled 'Prevent MS-DOS-based programs from detecting Windows.'
Make sure that this is the only item selected! Click on OK. To run the game,
just double-click the Shortcut Icon for Bridge 8.0. You can add Bridge 8.0
to your Start Menu on the Task Bar by dragging the Shortcut Icon for Bridge
8.0 onto the Start button on the Task Bar. You can download the shortcut
by clicking on bridge8.pif.
Copy this shortcut to your desktop and double-click to run the game.
IBM version: game does not show score at end of hand, seems to
jump right back to main menu...
Mouse sensitivity is too great (usually happens on faster pentium machines).
Try lowering the sensitivity using a mouse control panel, or press the RETURN
key at the very last trick, or download the latest patch EXE file Bridge 8.0 rel 6.0122 (IBM 250k).
IBM version: I don't have a mouse cursor!
Bridge 8.0 runs in DOS (even when launched from Windows). Your mouse driver
is not being loaded in DOS. Locate your mouse driver (it is usually named
'MOUSE.COM' and put its path in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. Or, create the Shortcut
Icon for Bridge 8.0 as described above.
King of Solitaire
I have release 2.0 and it won't work properly on my black and
white Macintosh...
The early releases of King of Solitaire 2.0 did not work properly on black
and white Macs. This has been fixed with version 2.0.4. Check your version
number on the King of Solitaire Title Screen. You can return your defective
disk to Artworx and we will replace it with the current release.
King of Solitaire loads OK but gives me an error message when I
select a game...
Try upping the amount of memory reserved for running the game. Click once
on the King of Solitaire icon to turn it dark. Under the File Menu, select
Get Info. At the bottom of the box there will be two places where
you can edit the amount of memory. They are probably set at 1400 or 2000.
Edit those numbers, changing both of them to 8000 (assumes you have at least
16m RAM in your machine). Click off and then try the game. If problems persist,
up the memory even higher.
Windows: When I try to run the game in Windows I get a "Q-T
Initialization Error"...
Your computer either does not have QuickTime installed or it's an early
release. Install QuickTime from your Poker CD, its in a folder labeled "QTIME."
Open the QTIME folder and run the INSTALL.EXE application. Follow the prompts
and do a "Local Install." Have the installer search for and replace
any other versions of QuickTime found on your computer. Note: you do not
need to have the examples or documentation installed; that needlessly takes
up 2MB of your hard disk space.
Windows: When I launch the game I immediately get a "Fatal
Exception Error"...
The color depth on your computer is probably set too low. Open your Control
Panel and go to the Display Control Panel. Click on the "Settings"
tab and increase the color depth to as high as you can go (usually "high
color"). Apply those settings and try running the game again.
Windows: When I run the game, the colors appear blurry or unsharp...
Your display is probably set for 16 or 256 colors. Try upping the colors
to "thousands" or "true color."
Macintosh Volume II: I have no option to unlock additional opponents...
You need to replace your Poker application. Go to demos
and downloads and download the patch for the Mac version of Volume II.
I want to order additional opponents, but I can't find my Customer
Key...
Run the Unlock program; your Customer Key is listed there.
Windows: I run the Unlock program, but get an error message...
When unlocking new opponents, just type in your Access Key. Do not
click on any of the Teams or Packages listed under the Product List; the
Access Key already contains that information.
Windows: Volume 1-1/2 and II: When I installed my new CD, my unlocked
opponents from my first CD no longer appear!!!
The new installation overwrote the shortcut to Poker Vendor in your StartUp
folder. We recommend that before installing a new Strip Poker Windows CD,
that you first rename the shortcut to Poker Vendor in the StartUp folder.
We use Vendor15 for Volume 1-1/2 and VendorV2 for Volume II. You can go
to demos and downloads
and download the renamed shortcuts if your prefer. Make sure you download
the file(s) into your StartUp folder.
Windows: Volume 1-1/2 and II: I ran the Unlock program, did not
get any error messages, but the new opponents don't appear in the game!
Apparently the decoding software (Vendrun) is not running at computer boot
up. You can create a shortcut icon to Vendrun by clicking on the Vendrun
icon (found in your SPCDWV2 or SPCD15 folder) with your right mouse button
and selecting "Create Shortcut." Move the shortcut to your Desktop
and right click on it. Select "Properties" and under the "Shortcut"
tab, edit the line labeled "Target" by putting a space at the
end of the line followed by "C:\SPCDWV2" for Volume II or "C:\SPCD15"
for Volume 1-1/2. Run the appropriate shortcut before running the Poker
application. You can go to demos
and downloads and download these shortcuts. They are labeled "PokerV2"
and "PokerV15.".
